Nichole Phelps
Head of School
Nichole holds a masters degree in education from Providence College and is beginning her Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Innovation. She is a lifelong learner herself, an educator for over a decade, and believes in the transformative power of education. She is a loving mom and grandmother, and when she is not with her family, she is often enjoying the great outdoors.
Vasiliki Brodeur
Dean of Admissions
Vaso is a loving mom to two sweet young boys and enjoys being at home with her family. She brings with her an impressive resume of experience in the independent school market with a focus on both admisssions and marketing.
Alex Noel
Dean of Student Life
Alex holds a BA in Dance Performance from Rhode Island College. At the age of three Alex fell in love with dance and carried that passion with her to college and beyond. She is excited to bring her love of arts and community to create incredible experiences for students here at Ms. Phelps' Preparatory School. As a mother herself, her goal is to create a comfortable, loving, family culture for the young women to grow and flourish academically in their personal lives.
Bill Phelps
Director of Operations
Bill has vast experience in business leadership. He has spent many years in the business sector as the Vice President of Sales and the Vice President of Business Transformation for an engineering solutions firm. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the university of Rhode Island and is currently also a visiting Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Bill is a doting father and grandfather, when he isn't with his family he can be found on the farm caring for his animals or in the workshop creating some amazing furniture.
Leah Belanger
Nurse Consultant
Leah is a dedicated and caring leader in the nursing profession. She has a great deal of experience in school nursing and administration as well.
Lauren Veatch
Guidance
Lauren grew up local in Litchfield CT. She enjoys taking walks with her dog, Clifford, and she enjoys reading and beach days. She graduated from Roger Williams University with a dual studies degree in Law Studies and Sociology.
Her previous experience working with students includes high school guidance counselor, financial aid advisor, and college and career counseling. She is a very caring and outgoing individual that goes above and beyond for her students. She cares very deeply about students' social and emotional well being.
Lauren's expertise in college selection and planning, her understanding of the scholarship application process, FAFSA, and how to help students develop competitive academic resumes has helped many students get into and afford their colleges of choice.
Our Governing Board
Our board is made up of very successful, high achieveing women in their own right, who have the insight and the experience to navigate our newly fledging school towards success. The make up of our board aligns with our mission and core values to empower young women. When young girls see women succeed, they learn that they too can succeed.
Joanne Fuller
Jo is an award winning educator with over 25 years of experience in secondary education. She has been a teacher, a teacher leader, and a school leader who is highly skilled and knowledgable, she brings all of her talent and experience to our governing board.
Jo's pedagogy developed in tiny independent schools in New England including School One, Putnam Science Academy and Vermont Academy.
Jo completed her graduate work at UVM and still pines for the Green Mountains where she and her husband raised their two daughters, Cordelia and Miranda. She is devoted to supporting Ms. Phelps' Preparatory School for Girls in achieving its mission and looks forward to helping the institution grow and flourish.
Molly D'Agostino
Molly D'Agostino is a dedicated advocate for women's education and empowerment. Molly's academic and professional experiences reflect the qualities and characteristics of the passionate young women we seek to develop at Ms. Phelps' Prep. She demonstrated a passion for both academic excellence and extracurricular engagement in her youth, working hard to be successful in school and in her passion - music, which put her on a path that allowed her to seamlessly blend her love for learning with her musical talents. She embarked on nationwide tours, signed with a record label and released her first album! Her life experiences helped to develop her team building skills, clear communication, and a resilience that keeps her seeking new challenges—qualities essential to effective leadership.
Molly graduated from Syracuse University College of Law, where she earned her law degree specializing in non-profit law. Upon completing her legal studies and becoming a licensed attorney in New York, Molly's commitment to education and community service remained steadfast and founded a non-profit consulting company, and her own non-profit organization that provides services to underserved equine professions. Her experiences in both music and law provided her with a unique perspective on the importance of collaboration, advocacy, and innovative problem-solving in the non-profit setting. In her role as a board member of MPPS, Molly brings to the table a wealth of diverse experiences and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing educational institutions today.
Jennifer Lee
Jenn is a loving mother of two amazing young women and grandmother to two adorable little toddlers. She currently serves as Interim President and Executive Director at the VNA of Care New England, where she leads a high-quality healthcare organization to meet the needs of the community.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Rhode Island earning a bachelor's degree in Human Science and Services, followed by a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. Jennifer's work in healthcare was born from a deep-seated passion for helping others to regain mobility and independance.
As a licensed physical therapist, she honed her expertise and professionalism over 26 years, specializing in geriatric care within the home setting. Her compassion and desire to help others demonstrates one of the pillars of strong leadership. Recognized for her exceptional leadership qualities, Jennifer assumed her current role at Care New England, steering the organizations strategic plan with vision and integrity. Under her guidance the organization has flourished, consistently exceeding industry standards while delivering unparalled quality of care to elderly individualsacress the community. She brings these same skills and gifts to the managing board at Ms. Phelps' Preparatory School for Girls.
Kaelyn Prigge
Kaelyn is a proud Hawk alumna, graduating from Roger Williams University in 2017 and Roger Williams University School of Law in 2019. Throughout law school she focused her work on domestic violence law, but upon passing the Bar Exam and beginning her legal career at the start of the COVID-19 era, she worked as a private litigation and defense attorney. In 2021 she made the switch into the public sector and hasn't looked back, spending the last three years of her career serving as legal counsel and hearing officer for the Rhode Island Department of Education. In addition to handling all general education matters and disputes, she has developed an expertise in special education law. She is a member of the RI Government Lawyers committee and the Rhode Island Law Day Committee. She enjoys serving her community and loves that she is helping others learn about, and navigate through the complexities of schooling for students with unique needs. Kaelyn brings these strengths with her in her service on our governing board.
Outside of work, Kaelyn loves spending time with her husband and their dogs. She enjoys reading mystery novels and going to the beach.

Greg Williamson
Math, Dean of Grade 10
Greg Williamson has been teaching math at the middle, high school, and college level for almost 30 years. By teaching mathematics at every level, he is able to scaffold and support any learner. In addition to teaching at ICL, Greg also teaches at the University of Michigan. Greg attended the University of Michigan and Harvard University, and is currently moving into the final phase of a PhD program at Eastern Michigan University.
Jen Bacquet
History, Dean of Grade 9
Jen Bacquet grew up in Los Angeles, California. After several years working in Finance and Technology in San Francisco, she decided to become a teacher driven by her desire to make positive contributions to disadvantaged communities. Jen also received her Master’s in International Education with an emphasis on curriculum development, formative assessment and alternate pedagogy. She has taught in Thailand, Myanmar and Japan and has worked with local communities to broaden their opportunities through the use of English.
Krista Kemeny
Social Studies, Dean of Grade 11
Kriszta Kemeny is a proud mother of three children. She has been teaching Social Studies and English language at the middle school, high school and college level for more than 25 years. Kriszta has been tutoring students and working as a learning coach in a variety of international schools in 4 different countries.
She received her Master‘s Degree at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. Education is her passion. Kriszta strives to give her students an exciting and unique learning experience which enables them to understand the world better, think critically, recognize their limits and make responsible decisions. She keeps students engaged by using materials that are related to their individual lives.
Anna Markwalter
English Language Arts
Anna has her master’s degree in English Education from the University of Georgia. She is certified by the state of Georgia to teach English, History, and ESOL. Anna has seven years of educational experience and has worked in diverse environments around the world. Anna is passionate about fostering a lifelong love of learning and reading for her students.
Anna is based in Georgia but frequently travels with her husband. They love traveling and experiencing new cultures, cuisines, and adventures! She loves reading and always carries a book with her. You can find her reading everywhere she goes!Derek Segesdy
Science and Math
Derek received his Master of Science in Forensic Science from Arcadia University and his Bachelor of Science (Physics Major) from Allegheny College, where he was a four year letter winner and senior captain of the men's soccer team.
Derek has vast experience working in independent schools including Tampa Preparatory School in Florida, The Pomfret School (CT), Fountain Valley School (CO), and Worcester Academy (MA). He is a talented teacher with experience in all areas of math and science as well as in engineering, computer science, forensic science, and robotics.
Andrea Carlson
Science
Andrea has been teaching science at the high school level for nine years and has taught classes ranging from general biology, college credit biology, and AP Biology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The College of Idaho.
Before becoming a teacher, Andrea worked in a laboratory and in a medical imaging office. She applies these experiences to the classroom to make the learning experience more relatable for her students. Andrea focuses on getting to know her students’ passions and goals to provide a welcoming environment that encourages them to engage and thrive in their learning journey.
Katie Dreslinski
AP Math & Economics
Goedendag! Katie is an enthusiastic educator currently based in the Netherlands, with over 15 years of experience teaching in a variety of locations and settings. From traditional classrooms in rural Georgia and Metro DC, to international settings like the American School of the Hague, with many virtual environments in between, Katie's teaching journey has been as diverse as it has been rewarding.
This year, she'll bring that wealth of experience into teaching a variety of Math courses and the AP Econs. Katie is adept at tailoring her teaching methods to meet the unique needs of her students, and she eagerly anticipates inspiring young minds in the coming school year.
Divya George
ELA and Fine Arts
After an eventful year, Divya is super excited to continue her journey with the ICL Team. She was born and raised in a beautiful city – Bangalore in India. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology Honors at Christ University (India) post which she decided to work as a teaching fellow with Teach for India. Her experience there fostered her love for teaching and strengthened her drive to initiate change. This is her fifth year in teaching. She previously taught students, Humanities & English.
Something that she firmly believes and stands by is that we must always do something that we are a little not ready to do, that is how we grow. She has completed her MSc at University of Glasgow in Education, Public Policy and Equity. She is extremely passionate about dance and loves watching movies.
Candela Peralta
World Languages Spanish
Candela is a translator and a Spanish teacher. She is passionate about languages because they have the power to foster connection between communities worldwide.
She was born and raised in Argentina. She graduated as an English-Spanish translator at the School of Languages, National University of Cordoba (Argentina). During her school years, she discovered the beauty of teaching and started tutoring Spanish-speaking students in English and English-speaking students in Spanish. She has earned an ESL Certificate in the United States and has also volunteered at AFS, an organization that promotes intercultural exchanges between students from different parts of the world.
Nicole Wiemann
World Languages Spanish
Nicole has taught Spanish, French, and EAL for over 20 years in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. She holds a B.A. in Spanish, French, and EAL Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a M.S. in Language Education.
Her goal as an educator is to prepare and inspire students to be passionate learners and to help them realize their full potential. She is passionate about sharing her love of learning languages and about other cultures, as well as the benefits it brings with others. Her love for languages and culture has allowed her to travel the world and meet many amazing people.
Mario Arana
Humanities
Mario has taught Humanities and Spanish for 25 years in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. He holds a bachelors in Elementary Education from Harding University and a masters in Educational Leadership from Framingham State University.
His goal as an educator is to prepare and inspire students to reach their full potential in school and in life. His teaching focuses on engaging students’ curiosity, creativity, and interests as they develop their thinking, communication, and collaboration skills through project-based inquiry. He is excited to join ICL to contribute his passion for learning, travel, Latin America, writing, history, leadership and service.
Jeremy Miller
Theater
Jeremy Miller is New York-based arts professional with expertise in theatrical history and producing. He recently graduated from Colorado State University with his M.A. in Arts Leadership and received his B.S. in Entertainment Industry Studies from Belmont University. Jeremy has taught Theatre Arts all over New England and Florida and has an ethos of advocating regionally and nationally for greater arts access and funding.
He currently works for Broadway Plus where he leads education initiatives with some of Broadway’s most beloved artists to enrich and inspire the masses and keep the tradition of theatre alive.
Mike Kimmel
Electives
Mike Kimmel is a NBPTS certified secondary teacher with a background in English and Social Studies. Mike has worked in several high schools, including ones where all classes were designed to match student athletic passions. Mike is also a curriculum designer and an instructional technology specialist for a large school district. He currently resides in Western Colorado.
Mike is also a competition rock climbing coach, as climbing is his passion. Mike has traveled around the world in pursuit of climbs and continues to coach athletes to excel in this sport.
